Teacher (Instructor) - STEM Summer Camp - San Diego, CA

Job Summary: Teach and facilitate Computer Science & Engineering curriculum designed for rising 3rd – 6th graders. Relate science & engineering topics to introductory concepts in Mobile Technology and/or facilitate daily Computer Lab projects with campers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementation of new or existing Hands-On Technology programs and/or summer camps.

  • Handle questions, comments and/or complaints regarding education programs and events professionally and tactfully.

  • Attend mandatory employee-training program and other trainings/meetings as directed.

Training:

Prior to camp, instructors will receive training in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering concepts and activities targeting K-12 students. Satisfactory completion of training is required for all camp instructors, counselors, and volunteers.

 

Requirements:

  • One of the following: (1) Valid teaching certification/credential at the elementary, middle, or high-school levels and/or (2) Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Physical Science, Mathematics or related field

  • Experience teaching Science or Mathematics at the elementary, middle, or high-school levels.

  • Experience teaching/leading school-aged children in hands-on activities and youth supervisory experience is a plus.

  • Ability to communicate in front of a large group and direct a large group of students.

Camp Counselor - STEM Summer Camp - San Diego, CA 

Job Summary: Assist Camp Instructors in teaching and facilitating science & engineering curriculum designed for rising 3rd – 6th graders. Facilitate daily computer lab activities with campers. Coordinate and carry out outdoor camp activities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.

  • Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.

  • Attend employee-training program and other trainings/meetings as directed.

Training:

Prior to camp, instructors will receive training in Computer Science & Electrical Engineering concepts and activities targeting K-12 students. Satisfactory completion of training is required for all camp instructors, counselors, and volunteers.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be a high school graduate (by June 26th)

  • Students entering or currently enrolled in undergraduate studies or tech. training programs are preferred.

  • Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR.

  • Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of work.

  • Ability to interact with all age levels.

  • Prior experience working with children is preferred.

  • Prior computer programming experience is a plus.
